The workspace
I build in.

I’m Carmine. Umbratic is the desktop AI workspace I build and use for my own code, files, and documents. Open source, and here for you to explore.

Built around everyday work.

One place to move between an idea, the files, and the result.

Work with your files.

Search the workspace, edit code, run commands, and create documents with local tools.

Choose how you work.

Use ChatGPT through Codex, Claude through Claude Code, a local model, or your own Veil server.

Stay in the loop.

Steer a running response with Enter, queue a follow-up with Shift+Enter, and review the changes before moving on.

See what changed. Make it better.

Review code changes and give document feedback without leaving your workspace.

Keep the whole task in view.

Your conversation, files, and review stay together.

See the difference. Down to a word.

Compare changes, leave feedback, and open the file in your editor.

From the Umbratic app. Sample content. Select an image for a closer look.

Your work stays yours.

No usage analytics. No automatic telemetry uploads. Chat history and diagnostic logs stay on your device.

Run inference locally, use your own Veil server, or connect a supported cloud provider. Cloud requests follow that provider’s policies.

How privacy works

Use it. Read it. Make it yours.
